Jessica & Donnie’s rustic barn wedding on PEI was SO beautiful! Every detail was so carefully thought out, and brought to life by Jessica and her family and friends.
Jessica contacted me TWO WEEKS before their wedding (yep, you heard that right), wondering if I might be available, as their original photographer had a family emergency, and would be unable to make it to their wedding! Well, it was truly meant to be…as I not only was available that weekend, but I happen to live right across the road from the venue she chose: The beautiful Clinton Hills property.
I was so glad to be able to step in and help with their predicament, and so honored to become a part of their incredibly special day! From start to finish, it was just about as perfect as you could hope for. Plus, the weather was gorgeous – which is always a gamble in September on PEI…
Jessica and Donnie’s wedding was an intimate affair, with only just under 70 close friends and family members present. There was something about it that made things extra special, as you knew each and every person there was a dear soul, and special to the bride and groom, each in their own ways.
They each had just 3 groomsmen/bridesmaids (and a man of honor), which included several family members.
We drove out to Cape Tryon so that their First Look could be by the ocean, fields and PEI red dirt cliffs…and it did not disappoint.
I love the added bonus that doing a private First Look gives you the ability to capture all the sweet portraits BEFORE the ceremony…and that makes the rest of the day so much more laid back, and relaxed. Jessica and Donnie were amazing sports, and we took quite the hike to get them some cliff shots, as well as these lovely moments in the fields nearby.
Back at Clinton Hills again, the ceremony was held in their outdoor ceremony spot in the woods. I can’t tell you how beautifully it fit with Jessica’s vision for decorating. Everything was perfectly rustic and elegant at the same time. Marsha Weeks did a lovely job officiating the ceremony, sharing both words of wisdom and lots of laughter with all those who were attending.
After the ceremony, everyone gathered in the courtyard outside of the barn for a champagne toast, before heading indoors for the reception. Between moving speeches, we enjoyed an incredible dinner, and everyone seemed to be very much enjoying themselves as they re-connected and conversed throughout the evening. Eventually some upbeat songs were pulled out, and young and old enjoyed showing off their dance-floor moves.
Just as the light was fading over the horizon, we stepped outside to grab a couple of quick shots out in the Clinton Hills “Back 40”.
After the sun set, Jessica and Donnie pulled aside their wedding party, and we were able to capture a few epic sparkler pictures to end the evening!
Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Kenney!! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful day!
